5 Easy Hikes to Waterfalls in Nova Scotia
Everybody loves a waterfall, don’t they? I know I do. I’ve visited lots and lots of waterfalls in Nova Scotia and here are 5 I’ve found that are pretty easy hikes and kid friendly.
In no particular order, here they are !
Borden Brook Falls, Blomidon Provincial Park, Kings County
3138 Pereau Rd, Canning, NS B0P 1H0
From the Blomidon Lower parking lot, cross the road onto the grass -you’ll see signs. Once in the woods, just follow the trail to the waterfall. If you take a left at the bridge just before the falls, you will follow the rest of the Borden Brook Trail, but…its steep, and muddy and pretty slippery in sections even in the summer at times. Then you’ll need to come down-the same way, the lower Joudey trail or the road. The trail to the falls itself is only 1.25 k round trip.
Not much elevation,
The Falls themselves are beautiful, cascading down in two sections with stairs for a better view.

*The Blomidon Beach is lovely to walk on on the ebb tide, until 4 hours before high tide,
Delap’s Cove Falls, Annapolis County

2077 Shore Rd W, Granville Ferry, NS B0S 1K0
One of two trails at Delap’s Cove, part of Bohaker Trail perches on the Bay of Fundy, so during your hike you can see both the Bay and a lovely waterfall.
The hike is only a 2.3 km loop, with some roots and rocks and muddy sections. The beach part is rocky-wear sturdy shoes, but no need to worry about tides here.
There’s a picnic table and a pit toilet at the trail head. Slight elevation. .
* Crows Nest in Parker’s Cover has great food, open year round, good portions and is always busy.
Dawson Brook Falls, Hants County

No civic address known, but directions are here
44.92818, -63.97531
The hike is just over 1.5 km, and goes though the woods and then follows the brook the rest of the way.
Trails may have muddy spots, small inclines, not marked but is well traveled or use Alltrails.
*20 minutes away in Windsor Forks you’ll find bent Ridge Winery and OnTree Park which has fun actives like zip lining . Hours depend on season but are listed here. (It’s located at Martock Ski Hill)
Indian Falls, Luneburg County

1585 Newburne Road, Newburne
(watch out-if you just put Indian Falls in Google, Google may take you around the back way-but you won’t know where you are)
Porta potties, picnic area, great viewing above the falls and then stairs leading down to the falls.
I've swam in it a few times but wear something on your feet-there are large slippery rocks under the water. Share on XI’ve seen people fish there as well.
There is a trail that’s about 1 km that’s nice.
Gate is open May to December,8am til dusk.

- 5 minutes away from Lunenburg County Winery.
Joe Howe Falls & Waddell Falls Colchester County

Victoria Park
29 Park Road, Truro
That’s right. In Truro you get 2 waterfalls. Both are different and pretty. I haven’t dipped my toe in them but I’ve seen youngsters swimming there.
The above address is the main address and I recommend you enter the park that way.Walk along Park Road to find signage to take you to the falls- about 2k return. Don’t forget to climb Jacob’s Laddder!
There are plenty of other trails, but it can be confusing especially since there are several entrances to Victoria Park. There are some QR codes on posts throughout the park that will get you a map of the trails.
Quite a bit of parking, though very busy in summer. Nice picnic area, washrooms. Some elevation.

- Depending on the tide, take the time to view the tidal Bore at Tidal Bore Park. I love it. Click the link for tide times and information
