Hiking the Hobson’s Lake Trail
Hobson’s Lake trail is one of the many trails offered in the Blue Mountain/Birch Cover Wilderness area, which is one of the largest wilderness areas in Canada. It is another of the unmarked and overgrown Birch Cove Blue Mountain Wilderness trails-so be prepared for that. A GPS is recommended, as well as a fully charged cell phone. Please don’t rely solely on a cell signal-download your maps for these wildish places.
Every time our group have hiked a Birch Cove/Blue Mountain Wilderness trail – we’ve gotten turn around.

Birch Cove/Bluff Wilderness area perches on the edge of the city and makes up about 200 acres of woodland, with many interconnecting trails, loops, and systems of lakes spreading from Kearney Lake Road out to Timberlea.
Its very untamed and unmarked
Not to put you off it-it’s fun, but just be aware. We did notice people skipping along like springs lambs-obviously they had been there many times before.

Good to Know
Alltrails had a good map of the trail and Hobson and Ash lakes
10 minutes from the Collins Rd trailhead will get you to Hobson’s Lake-going counter clockwise. This is not to be confused with Hobson’s Pond-not directly on the trailhead.
Ash Lake is also directly on the trail.
Fox lake can be access via additional trails, but it will add three more km to the 4.5 km route.
