If you’re down around Bridgewater and need a stretch of the legs, I suggest Miller Peace Park, just 5 minutes outside the town. off highway #3.

We recently revisited the park after a number of years and found there have been some great improvements. It’s a lovely easy 3k meandering stroll along the Lahave River with outdoor washrooms, picnic tables ,benches throughout and lots of parking.

The trails are very well maintained.

Miller Peace Park is accessible for wheelchairs, and used by walkers, runners and bikers. There’s even an accessible  kayak launch which provides all with easy access to the LaHave River.

The park is open daily from 8 am to dusk from early Spring till late Fall, but you can still visit the park  in winter.

Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after.

Note that the park shares an entrance with Dayspring Cemetery

Events in Miller Peace Park

There are various activities throughout the year

This year, for instance, on August 8-13 there is a launch event introducing all the park’s new features. You can even cop a ride in a  big canoe!

What’s Nearby

Crossing every 30 minutes and only 16 minutes away from Miller Peace Park  is the free LaHave River Ferry. The crossing only takes about 5 minutes leaving lots of time to explore the region.

You can explore Crescent Beach and enjoy a meal at the  historic La Have Bakery. 

Close by is La Have River Books along with  many other lovely shops

And speaking of history, Fort Point Museum  and LaHave Islands Marine Museum ( both are open seasonally) which whet your appetite for learning about local history.
